LAN_Kraftwerk was the second realization of the LAN installation. Continuing with a 10-person LAN party setup, this one introduced a new table layout, new cable managment techniques, and a new [very old] game!
This particular installment was part of the Unsound + Berlin Atonal festival "The Infinite Now" and it was a continuously interactive installation that ran the length of the festival [gaming for 36 hours straight]. We played Unreal Tournament 2004, a LAN party classic.
I made a custom map that was a replication of the Kraftwerk building. This is an iconic Berlin building and it was a treat to go on tour walks with the staff and learn more about the facilities and history of the structure.
After months of recreating Kraftwerk in UT2004, and designing the new layout [this time in a cleanroom in the middle of a massive industrial hall, lol] we installed and opened to the audience.
Playing with this hyper meta situationalist scene of occupying the same building twice concurrently [once digitally as a Iron Guard™ warrior and once physically as a gamer in a ambient music festival]. This dual being made for really funny comments that I overheard walking around the festival. "Here! [points to the floor] That's where the rocket launcher spawns!"
If you want the UT2004 map files for dm_Kraftwerk, send me an email and I can send it :)
This installment was super fun [and a bit hectic] so big shout out to the team of Berlin Atonal, TICK TACK, and those who helped gave their hands and brains to making this one amazing!!!
