LAN_Basel_Social_Club was the third installation of LAN. This was my personal favorite install. Taking place in a decomissioned office building, Basel Social Club 2026 was a super great playground for people to have fun, see exciting new works, meet and spend time together. LAN was situated in a really funny place in the exhibiton's multifloor labrythian layout. Right next to the work was a bar and a ping pong table. It was so sick lmao.
This was the tightest the cables have been, and super thankful to my cabling solutions consultant and cheif media technololgy officer Bryce Williams. So often we heard people make remarks about how the cables were managed, completing one goal of the work which is to put on display the often hidden systems we use daily.
This was a much different crowd than we were used to with this installation. International big art people, curators, press, and gamers got the chance to take a break from the craziness of Art Basel and play some Counter-Strike: Source.
One remarkable night we have a really intense tournament with a bunch of [maybe ;)] drunk French, German, Russian, and English speakers. So many cultures that are often only usernames in a lobby showed themselves IRL, cursing at eachother and yelling in sentences including 4 languages at a time. At the end of this night, the glass panels of the table were shifted [never broke thankfully lol] and there was some crazy mouse settings I needed to change to make it playable for a normal person.
Mega mega thankful to everyone who helped install, and the BSC team and of course, the folks at Tick Tack for making this install a reality, this one was suuuuuper fun.
