found .jpg on pickled hdd is a continuation of the studio's pickle archiving project. born out of a realization that digital archiving can quickly become a tedious and boring task, the pickle project is a physical archiving project that aims to make archiving more fun and to create objects and situations that are completely stupid.
this instance of the pickle project was an experiment in connecting digital and physical archiving and data storage, where the data of the found image is etched onto the hard disk and then the disk is permanently suspended in brine. the electrical components of the drive are left useless but the data remains on the disk.
